An interview with Prabha Kalloe

29 years ago, in February 1988, Prabha Kalloe started working at Surinam Airways. Early on, the young stewardess realized that commitment, enthusiasm and passion for the work that you do, are essential to having a successful career. When talking to her about the work in the cabin, it is clear that dynamics of the job appeal to her tremendously. Her eyes light up and she immediately starts to smile.

With that sparkle in her eyes she elaborates on the challenge to always be “on time”. At the operational level there is so much to be taken care of prior to the departure of a flight and therefore the flight preparations have to be completed within a certain time frame. With this being the most hectic time of the flight, the adrenaline level is at its highest.

Furthermore Prabha says that it’s important that the passengers are being greeted and welcomed in a correct manner. “You always try to let passengers leave the flight with a good feeling and there is nothing more rewarding than passengers who compliment your team on the service, the food or simply the great landing.”

During our flights each and every purser or cabin member has the duty to show typical Surinamese hospitality. She concludes by saying: “As a purser, passengers who leave satisfied give me a feeling of a job well done. A satisfied passenger will happily return on one of our flights”.

Surinam Airways continues to be a good choice!
