Development and entrepreneurship, an ongoing challenge in this crisis

For those who dare to start a business in challenging economic times, the opportunities are for the taking. Creative entrepreneurs with brilliant ideas, courage and perseverance manage to use the crisis to their advantage.

The Suriname Tourism Foundation (STF) offers people, who dare to take on this difficult period, a platform to offer their tourist products and services to the wider public through promotion via among other its website and mobile app. Almost daily the STF receives requests for information sessions from persons intending to bring a new resort, hotel or apartment, or a new activity or product on the market. These are often also local village communities who want to work cooperatively in the development of their area through tourism activities that can be deployed in their environment. These communities are mostly searching for guidance, advice, statistical information; all of which are necessary in the feasibility phase and important for decision making.

The Suriname Tourism Foundation registers new and existing tourism-related businesses that have not yet signed up, free of charge and offers the necessary guidance regarding the current standards.

In 2016, the STF has, in cooperation with the General Bureau of Statistics (ABS), conducted the Visitors Exit Survey. The results which will be presented in late March this year, must contribute to the improvement and further development of Suriname’s tourist offer of services and products.
In 2017, the foundation will continue doing research on among other employment within the industry and conduct an inventory of companies active within the sector. This is necessary to identify the number of people working within this industry as well as tourism-related services in Suriname.

Entrepreneurs or individuals who aspire to start a tourism related company or service can register for free at the STF.

For registration, please send an email to marketing@surinametourism.sr
In return a page will be created free of charge on the website www.surinametourism.sr of the Suriname Tourism Foundation for those companies that choose to register with us.
