Documentation & Quality and Compliance department.

The department Documentation and the department Quality & Compliance are inseparable because of their responsibilities and activities.

Department Documentation
The Civil Aviation Regulations Suriname ( CARS ) demands that Surinam Airways comply with aviation standards and that these are documented in special manuals, the so-called Operations Manual. CARS further more demands that all these manuals are up-to-date in the right place, immediately available for personnel who need it during performance of their activities.

The department documentation takes care of the above stated requirements. A few activities which contribute to this are the distribution of manuals and revisions, update the manuals in the airplanes and necessary departments and do the implement of the latest industry standards in revision.

Quality and Compliance Department
The CARS also demands that the latest industry standards are recorded in the manuals. The department Quality and Compliance regularly visits relevant websites to see whether the standards are revised of if there are new standards in which are applicable for Surinam Airways. The Quality and Compliance department together with the department Documentation further ensures that these revised or new standards are documented in the Surinam Airways manuals and are then send to Civil Aviation Safety Authority ( CASAS ) for approval.

The importance of these departments lies in the fact that they strictly monitor that CARS standards are met and also other foreign regulations.

Gender violence

Yearly, worldwide activities are planned in the period of November 25th , International day to ban violence against women, until December 10th,day of Human rights to increase awareness about and take action against gender related violence against women and girls. This period is also known as the Sixteen Days of Activism against Gender Violence and this year’s theme is: “Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls.” This period and all other actions of consciousness following this will be presented with the color orange.

Since violence against women has a social, economic and medical impact on not only the victim, but on the total society, the Bureau of Gender Affairs ( BGA ) of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Suriname has presumed together with other ministries, non-governmental organizations, trade and industry and other partners to engage in the actions which need to contribute to the awareness about the reduction of or the elimination of violence against women.

This year the departments Human Resource Management and Public Relations of Surinam Airways has implemented the awareness action by putting a banner on the main building and provide it with orange spandex decoration.

Fifth Networking Drinks & Cocktails at Residence Inn

On Friday, November 10, the fifth Network event “Netwerkborrel” was held in hotel Residence Inn Paramaribo. These networking nights are commonly held on the first Friday of the month whereby a guest speaker is invited each time to give a presentation.
After four successful nights, the honour was this time conferred to John Goedschalk of Conservation International who captivated the crowd with his presentation “CI Suriname: Our Contribution to the Development of Tourism in Suriname”.
Sustainable Tourism is key within Conservation International, an environmental organization which is striving for preservation of nature for over 25 years now, in no less than 40 different countries. In Suriname, the organization is already active during 23 years and is responsible, amongst others, for the “Regional Climate Change and Avoided Deforestation Project”; a project to control logging and loss of forests.
During his presentation, Goedschalk highlighted the position we could take in as a country within the sustainability chain followed by a discussion on the vision, mission and opportunities for Suriname and Sustainable Tourism.
The Network event in Residence Inn Paramaribo is free of costs and offers in particular stakeholders from the sector, an ideal occasion to socialize and share viewpoints on the subject matter of the night, in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
