On our blog, On Trusted Wings, we pay more attention to Miami, one of the popular SLM destinations that you fly to, directly from the Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport or via a stopover in Georgetown. A few days in Miami can also be a nice break when you visit Suriname from the Netherlands. This time we highlight two beautiful new locations for a fun day out.
Bayside Marketplace, abbreviated Bayside, is located on the waterfront of Downtown Miami, next to the American Airline Arena where, among other things, the exciting Miami Heat games are played. The location has undergone a major change. This beautiful entertainment center is formed by two long rows of shops opposite each other, various easily accessible open kiosks and the food court. “Over 100 shops” says the illuminated billboard. In addition to the well-known clothing brands such as Guess, Lacoste, Pinguin, Polo Ralph Lauren and Victoria ’s Secret, the cafes with outdoor seating by the water also contribute to the attraction of Bayside. Grab a drink or order a snack and enjoy the view. In the evening there is live music. If you choose the food court on the top floor, the food items on display make it easy to decide what you’re going to order. Parking near the business-heart of Miami is unfortunately only possible in the private garage.
Address: 401 Biscayne Blvd, Downtown Miami
Hours: daily from 10 am to 10 pm
Parking: US $ 7 per hour / US $ 10 for two hours / US $ 12 for three hours
The average time spent on Bayside is one and a half hour.
But not only Bayside has undergone a facelift. Things have also been improved or renewed on Miami Beach, which has a positive effect on tourism. One of the youngest attractions – which is also called the marketplace – is the brand new Time Out Market. Unlike Bayside, these are 18 food and beverage outlets under one roof. A nice casual dining experience, to which a number of famous chefs link their names. The concept of the interior is simple: a long space, with seats in the middle and open kitchens on either side. The strikingly dominant black provides depth. Non-meat eaters are welcome at Love Live Cafe with vegan food. At Kush they distinguish themselves from the rest with their ‘alligator bites’ and two tasty dips. There is usually a DJ who suppresses all the buzz with music. Parking here is approximately 50% cheaper than at Bayside.
Address: corner 16th Street and Drexel Avenue, Miami Beach
