The reasons for flying to Miami with Surinam Airways may vary, but actually most travelers intend to go shopping. That is what this destination is well-known for. Good quality, plenty of choice and the prices are the most attractive in the region. For the On Trusted Wings blog, Boarding-reporter Charles Chang compares these three malls: Dolphin Mall, Aventura Mall and Lincoln Road Mall.
This outlet mall is located 8 km (5 mi) west of Miami International Airport. Prices are much lower than elsewhere, however, it often happens that not all sizes are available. The elongated complex is divided into three parts: Playa, Ramblas and Moda. The most famous brands are present here. A movie theater and a bowling alley offer entertainment. Besides the food court with over thirty self-service restaurants, there are also twenty restaurants with table service. The nice thing about Dolphin Mall is that you don’t need to walk too much, because with 240 stores this mall is somewhat small. Bass Pro Shops is a great addition, with which Dolphin Mall endorses its slogan: Live life to the fullest at Dolphin Mall, there is something for everyone!
Dolphin Mall – 11401 NW 12th Street, Miami, Florida, U.S.A.
Hours: Mon-Sat 10 a.m. – 9:30 p.m., Sun 11 a.m.- 8 p.m.
This mall is the place to be for shoppers with a larger budget. On the well-known I-95 North, take the exit Ives Dairy Road (exit 16), follow the winding road and you will end up at the free parking area of this mall. If you park your car on the top floor – as will often be the case, because Aventura is always packed with shoppers – you will enter the Food Hall right away. Those who want to eat something different from the food at the other malls have come to the right place.
You will notice the upscale ambiance: resounding brand names such as Cartier, Givenchy, Fendi, Jimmy Choo, Ted Baker, Burberry and Rolex. And this one too: Luis Vuitton. At Nordstrom prices are somewhat higher than at Macy’s. With its 264 shops, Aventura Mall is one of the biggest malls in Miami.
Aventura Mall – 19501 Biscayne Boulevard, –Miami, U.S.A.
Hours: very variable
Unlike the other two malls Lincoln Road Mall is a shopping street, not a shopping mall, located in Miami Beach. The only thing at this location is that visitors need to search for a dry spot when it rains; but apart from that, the atmosphere is perfectly fine. On the median there are plants and trees, and is lined with comfortable restaurant outdoor seating. Temporary artworks are placed for an artistic ambience. The voluptuous figures of Colombia’s most widely known artist Fernando Botero are on view up to the end of March 2020.
Moreover, the location is perfect for live music. Besides the ordinary stores, there are very special ones such as the Apple Store and the Capitol One Bank cafe. Parking in Miami Beach is a problem, but this mall has solved it with its own parking lot.
