The highlights from Sabaku - 2019 at a glance

Before the new Sabaku appears, it is February 2020. We look back and we are thankful for the four Sabakus made in 2019.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Rooselvelt (1884-1962), the woman who had long been First Lady in the White House.

Welcome, also on behalf of the Sabaku team, in 2020! We wish you all a nice new year. 2020, the year that our B777 is a fact! A beautiful dream that has been realized!

“Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.” – Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855), Danish philosopher

Before the new Sabaku appears, it is February 2020. We will therefore first look back and be thankful for the four Sabakus made in 2019. Many thanks to you as a reader, who has frequently stated that they appreciate the content. But also a big thank you to the advertisers who help make it possible to create a beautiful magazine. A magazine that first and foremost promotes Suriname and contains a wealth of information for travelers and other interested parties. But also a magazine that offers a glimpse into the other destinations of SLM. Finally, a word of thanks to all Sabaku contributors and creators who always go the extra mile!

Also in 2020 we wish everyone a lot of reading pleasure with Sabaku! And don’t forget to subscribe to the monthly Boarding newsletter by registering on the homepage of the SLM website (scroll down). Also check from time to time what the SLM blog On Trusted Wings has posted.

Sabaku 58, February 2019 thru April 2019

A nice article about the company Kersten that has existed for 250 years. History is a subject that in addition to culture and nature also has a place in Sabaku.

The ‘Caribbean Highlights’ section is introduced.

Sabaku 59, May 2019 thru July 2019

A visit to Bakkie shows that tourism offers good opportunities for Suriname. Those who go to Bakkie can enjoy nature and at the same time take a dive into the history of Suriname.

Also in this edition an ode to a piece of cultural heritage: the koto.

The introduction of the new ‘Kidzzz …’ section is a success. Sabaku is also thinking of the younger passengers traveling with SLM!

Sabaku 60, August 2019 thru October 2019

A subject that receives a lot of attention: tourism. At the major tour operator METS Travel & Tours, Armand Bhagwandas hands over to Sherida Mormon.

The section ‘Suriname Highlights’ focuses on fun activities and initiatives in Suriname. The SLM Pastry & Snack Shop is also highlighted.

The Savannah Rally, you can also read a nice story about it in the Sabaku.

Sabaku 61, November 2019 thru January 2020

A breathtaking cover shows a beautiful part of Suriname, the area where the Matawai Maroon people live.
In the section ‘Dutch Highlights’ attention is paid to two beautiful exhibitions in destination Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

“The future is determined by what you are doing now.” – Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948), Indian human rights activist, the man who preached nonviolence.

Therefore a sneak preview, after the Sabaku that still has to appear …

Sabaku 62, February 2020 to April 2020
Will be a very nice edition again. With for example an atmospheric report about Belém.

And some nice books in the ‘Buku lobi’ section.
