
SLM Spaarplan – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The SLM Spaarplan is a travel savings and payment plan offered by Surinam Airways. It allows customers to gradually save and pay for their airline ticket prior to departure. The Savings Plan is designed to make travel more accessible and affordable by spreading the travel costs over multiple payments.
During the initial phase, the SLM Spaarplan is exclusively available through:
- The SLM Ticketing Office Paramaribo
- The SLM Ticketing Office Amsterdam
The SLM Spaarplan applies if your journey originates from Paramaribo or Amsterdam.
From its home base in Paramaribo (PBM), Surinam Airways operates flights to the following destinations: Amsterdam, Curaçao, Aruba, Georgetown, Barbados, Belém en Miami.
In addition, Surinam Airways offers passengers traveling from Amsterdam via Paramaribo the possibility to extend their journey with a Side Trip to one of our regional destinations.
Examples:
- Amsterdam – Paramaribo – Curaçao
- Amsterdam – Paramaribo – Aruba
- Amsterdam – Paramaribo – Barbados
Availability may vary depending on route, travel period, and fare type.
Please note: The SLM Spaarplan is not available if your journey originates from Curaçao, Aruba, Georgetown, Barbados, Belém, or Miami.

Important Notes
- All payments must be completed prior to ticket issuance and before departure
- Payment schedules are arranged in consultation with the SLM Ticketing Office
- The SLM Spaarplan offers 0% interest on the payment plan
- Each SLM Spaarplan has a duration of 60 days.
All payments must be fully completed within 60 days after the booking has been made. The SLM Ticketing Office will inform customers about the applicable payment deadlines.
The payment schedule will be determined in consultation with the SLM Ticketing Office, depending on the selected travel date and destination.
At this time, the SLM Spaarplan is only available through the SLM Ticketing Offices in Paramaribo and Amsterdam.
Yes, the SLM Spaarplan can also be used for family and group bookings, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
For group bookings from 12 persons and above, a request can be submitted via the Surinam Airways Group Reservation page: https://www.flyslm.com/support-center/assistance/group-reservation
No, promotional fares are not eligible for the SLM Spaarplan. Furthermore, once a fare has been agreed upon and booked under the SLM Savings Plan, it cannot subsequently be converted to a lower fare.
Customers are requested to contact the SLM Ticketing Office immediately if they experience payment difficulties. If payments are not completed within the agreed timeframe, the reservation may be cancelled and administrative or cancellation fees may apply.
Available payment methods may differ per ticketing office and may include:
- Cash payments
- Debit card payments available at the Amsterdam station
- Bank transfer
- Other locally accepted payment methods
